Cumaru

Cumaru (often called Brazilian Teak), no treatment is necessary as this species is naturally resistant to rot, fungus and decay. Very durable and  strong, it is less likely to split, warp when installed properly. A rich russet brown, with a marbled grain, it will in time become an even silver grey colour when allowed to weather naturally.

Bamboo

As with wood not all bamboo is the same, there are over 1000 species of bamboo worldwide. The MOSO species is found in low mountain areas of Eastern China, where it is exposed to extreme changes in temperatures. It is these temperature cycles, soil chemistry and hours of sunlight that give MOSO bamboo its strong durable properties. The MOSO species need 5 years to grow to adult height and become hard enough to be processed, regular harvesting encourages further growth. The density of bamboo cladding is equal to the hardness of timbers such as Jatoba – bamboo does not have the sustainability issues that tropical hardwoods can bring.
